Well, the main theme of the week seems to have been “I didn’t really do much this week” before discussing a whole list of what we’ve each done. It turns out it’s easy to play down all the work we do and all the time we put into it – especially when we’ve been so busy all day that we get to the end of it and can’t remember any of what we did more than a couple of hours back!

Keyworkers, anyone?

Supporting people through this odd time of lockdown has been a really interesting experience. We have had to look into different ways of offering support; through email, telephone calls, video calls and running support groups and counselling online. We have had to adapt and improve in what we offer, and as such we went right up to capacity in what our volunteers could offer.

The long days and fine weather really made last week as good as it could be. Lots of light flooding into the home office and the privilege of having to move the cat off my office chair so that I could get to work.

When is the future?

The family is out on another morning cycle ride and so I’ve got the radio on. A connection to the outside world, a chance to be outside my box. Today there’s news about family feuds at the richest end of society “something that puts our challenges under lockdown into perspective” apparently, I’m not sure that I can ever connect myself with the family that used to own the Ritz but perhaps I should, maybe it would have made more sense if I’d listened to the first part
