Well, the main theme of the week seems to have been “I didn’t really do much this week” before discussing a whole list of what we’ve each done. It turns out it’s easy to play down all the work we do and all the time we put into it – especially when we’ve been so busy all day that we get to the end of it and can’t remember any of what we did more than a couple of hours back!
This week became a reminder to me
Supporting people through this odd time of lockdown has been a really interesting experience. We have had to look into different ways of offering support; through email, telephone calls, video calls and running support groups and counselling online. We have had to adapt and improve in what we offer, and as such we went right up to capacity in what our volunteers could offer.
The last couple of weeks have been ‘interesting’. I have been simultaneously developing our facilitation training, helping keep the ongoing support we offer running, organising support for new sign ups and setting up the exciting new online talks we are providing from next month!
No one could have believed in the last few days of February that within a month Chrysalis would have all our support services online, but thanks to the hard work of all our facilitators and especially Maximillian, Julie and Steph I am so very proud to tell you that the first ever online Chrysalis support group ran on Friday evening and more are planned soon. Such incredible news to share with you this morning. Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved with Chrysalis we are now able to offer our support groups and our one-to-one counselling online.

At the d&i Leaders conference on Thursday I was introduced to the concept of “When in Rome; Embassy; Advocate” principles of how companies work in places where there is limited LGBT+ acceptance, or indeed where being your authentic self is a crime.
Previously I’ve been speaking with various Universities about creating self selected LGBT+ flats within their student accommodation and the discussion came up again at our most recent Chrysalis training.
