Small trans flag on stick

We’ve all had one of those mornings haven’t we? It’s raining, your mouse doesn’t work, but still the world is positive. New batteries installed and words flying onto the page. How are you all this fine school holiday morning?

Well get ready to get excited, to look forwards because awesome things are coming!

Have you been following #TourdeTrans? Not long now before Paeton and Callum set off on their epic ride. Come and share in the fun at one of the pRide Alongs. Sunday 16th August Chrysalis will be hosting our celebrations and pRide Along in the centre of Southampton. We have got an amazing team on the case so watch this space. We’ve also got flags, masks and even trans pride umbrellas available – contact info@chrysalisgim.org.uk to order your pRide pack for £20, all funds raised go directly into funding Chrysalis.

Watch the website and our social media for much better promotional shots, I know you’ll forgive me on here.

Don’t you just love opening parcels? We had great fun with all the new things.

Last week wasn’t just about pRide Along plans though, Dawn and I had a fantastic meeting on Friday drawing together all the strands that are in progress. Here’s a sneak peak:

Trustee Paul Draycott takes on the role of Bournemouth T&Q facilitator to allow the one and only Julie Miller to return to her role as Dorset Area Coordinator. The work Julie has put in to get the Bournemouth group up and running is incomparable, she really has changed lives. Not content with taking on that core service role Paul is also hard at work behind the scenes helping us sort out our HR policies and to find us some more trustees. Here he is in the officially sanctioned Teams photo of our chat on Thursday

Next up was a meeting with Paul and newly appointed trustee Russell Thackeray and wow, didn’t time fly! We now have the outlines of a conference schedule to educate, entertain and indeed sustain for the next year. For the foreseeable future Chrysalis events will be a blended mix of the virtual and the physical and it is so great to have two very impressive talents on our board to drive this forward. If you want to get involved in any of our projects you know who to call.

Dates for your diaries:

  • The Chrysalis AGM will be on Saturday 7th November, all welcome, if you are interested in getting involved as a voting member then contact the office. This will be our inaugural AGM as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and our opportunity to say thank you very much to Jon and Steph as they step down from the board and to Nina who retires as our Fareham Parents Group facilitator.
  • Fly the Trans Flag Trans Allies Campaign Sunday 1st November to Thursday 19th November
  • Trans Day of Remembrance Friday 20th November
  • Chrysalis’ 2020 conference – looking at how we can build a better future Friday 27th November

Speaking about blended working brings me nicely onto the first of the Beyond Lockdown – How can Chrysalis co-exist with Covid-19 events hosted by Joanne Lockwood from See Change Happen

It’s always a pleasure working with Joanne and great to learn from one of the best, showing what can really be done in the online world. We have one more of these events scheduled, co-facilitated by group members, on Friday 7th August if you want in then message Dawn. But don’t take my word for it – check out everyone’s feelings after Tuesday’s event.

That great feeling after a positive event

Phew! Life really doesn’t stop does it? No wonder my poor mouse was tired.

This week is all about supervision, checking in with our team of incredible counsellors and capturing all those yummy stats and then, shock! horror! I’m on annual leave for two whole weeks. Check out a Tour de Trans pRide Along event near you for a sneak peak of the CEO on the road. Tiny Car has felt neglected these last few months, perhaps now is the time to shine.
